The most beautiful visuals I’ve ever seen!
I never thought I’d see these legendary scenes - especially not with virtual reality! We saw the separation of light and darkness, and the stars and planets being created. Just thinking about it is crazy! The visuals are so vibrant and colorful! You can really feel hypnotized in all the activity around you. Amazing experience!
Such a unique experience
This is the most interesting tour I’ve been on. I’d never tried virtual reality before, so I was unsure how it worked, but our instructor Maria explained everything very clearly. She was right by us the entire time, which was super helpful. I also appreciated the skip-the-line tickets because we didn’t have to wait in line at all and started the tour quickly.

When did the first Virtual Tour happen in the Vatican?
In 2021. During the Coronavirus pandemic, the Vatican Museums were of course closed. However, the Sistine Chapel reopened for the public in 2021 - virtually. Visitors could log in online to see 360° projections of the legendary chapel.
The new virtual tour was a collaboration between Villanova University’s Computer Science students. They traveled to Rome as interns to work on the project.
